111 Edition: Part 1
international catwalk trends

As detailed in Schwarzkopf Professional’s Trend Report, the spring/summer 2009 catwalk collections were dominated by four hot trends:

80's Dance
With its heart in the 80’s, this sports and dance inspired look, gives Fame and Flashdance a contemporary attitude. ESSENTIAL Elements of 80s Dance: Athletic yet feminine. Sports and dance inspired. 80s homage with a contemporary spin. Lycra and neon colours. Dynamic, kinetic, youthful. Attitude-fuelled.

Sunday Best
Although born two seasons ago, this larger-than-life trend has flourished.  Anything and everything goes in this quirky look.  ESSENTIAL Elements of Sunday Best: Confident offbeat mixes. Up-do’s, netting and bows for hair. Ladylike prints and fabrics. Unexpected colours. Pretty and rebellious.

Glamazon
Cool gets hot. Inspired by statuesque, confident, brooding icons of the late 70’s and early 80’s like Veruska and Iman. ESSENTIAL Elements of Glamazon: Sexy, confident and sophisticated. Smouldering 70s vibe. Safari meets Studio 64. Length, movement, sun-warmed colours. Tribal jet set.

Rounded Form
The natural evolution of ‘Sculpted Form’. Softer and more feminine, yet still inspired by futuristic and architectural styling. ESSENTIAL Elements of Rounded Form: Softened minimalism. Curved and rounded forms. Weightless, futuristic, lustred. Body-morphing femininity.

Available as a CD-ROM, the Trend Report highlights the ‘need to know’ catwalk trends, providing detailed visual examples, mood videos and soundtracks, that altogether translated into the inspiration behind Essential Looks, our bi-annual hair trend collection.
